My family has called Hilton Head Island home for 42 years. In that time, Margaret and I have been heavily involved in the development and growth of this wonderful Island in many capacities, including Carswell of Carolina, the Islands first insurance agency, and Charter member of the founding board of Coastal States Bank. During that time I also served in the South Carolina Legislature representing Hilton Head and Beaufort County for 12 years.I was appointed by Gov Mark Sanford to run the department of Insurance for four years. Margaret and I have served on many charitable boards including NAMI, Boys and Girls Club, Hilton Head Orchestra, Heritage Classic Foundation, Success By Six and others. Real Estate has always been an interest to us and I have held a Real Estate Brokers License for 18 years. We have owned several homes in Sea Pines.
